Wimborne is the most period-heavy area we cover. The town centre around the Minster, West Borough and East Street is packed with Georgian and Victorian buildings — natural slate, clay tiles, deep parapet gutters, complex valleys and a lot of lead. Out towards Colehill, Merley and Canford Magna it shifts to twentieth-century detached and semi-detached housing on much simpler roof shapes.

On the older properties, the failures are nearly always at the details rather than the field of the roof: split or fatigued lead in valleys and around chimneys, cracked haunching on stacks, and parapet or box gutters that were never designed for the volume of water a modern storm dumps on them. On the newer estates it's the familiar list — perished underfelt, loose ridges, and lofts still running on decades-old insulation.

Wimborne sits at the confluence of the Stour and the Allen, and that low-lying, flood-prone ground matters for roofing more than people expect — drainage, gutter capacity and where water is thrown off a roof all need thinking about here. The town also has one of Dorset's best collections of 15th to 17th century buildings, so around the Cornmarket and High Street the roof structures themselves are old and need specialist care, while BH21 also takes in the far more conventional twentieth-century housing of Leigh Park, Colehill and Merley.
